(ABC 6 News) – Minnesota state officials have released their report on statewide clean water fund initiatives.

The biannual report shows there have been 57 wastewater construction projects done since 2010, reducing the amount of phosphorus found in drinking water by more than 190,000 pounds per year.

The report also details reduction in mercury, subsurface nitrogen and chloride discharges.

Improvements are also being made by land on a local level.

Registration for Rochester’s 2024 “A Litter Bit Better” campaign has also opened.

The event kicks off on April 27 and will run through May 5.

Volunteers will be provided with trash and recycling bags with a choice of when and where to help clean up.

Since the campaign began in 2007, more than 145 tons of litter have been removed from the Med City.
