(ABC 6 News) – People who live in Minnesota are familiar with Hockey Day Minnesota. A day when hockey players of all ages, and all levels of play, come together to celebrate and play the sport they love.

Now, another sport will have it’s own day in the North Star State: Baseball Day Minnesota has been announced for May 11.

The event is the work of Prep Baseball Minnesota and the Minnesota Twins Community Fund, described as a passion project engineered by Prep Baseball Minnesota’s state director Andy Judkins and director of social media and operations, Parker Hageman.

“The goal is to make it unique,” said Judkins. “It’s an event that’s hopefully going to be not like your typical high school baseball game. There’s some details that we’ll release at a later date or leading up to it that will make it unique to the day and some things we’ve had discussions with, with the Twins and they’ve been super helpful and super awesome to work with.”

Judkins and Hageman are hopeful to draw in baseball programs from all corners of the state from Grand Portage to Worthington and Rochester to Moorhead.

They are also looking for any businesses and sponsors from any corner from the state to help out with the growth of the day before it has it’s first event at Veterans Field in Minnetonka on May 11.
