Peak energy alert goes into effect Wednesday morning
(ABC 6 News) – Though the cold has been great for ice skaters and anglers, it has put a strain on Minnesota’s energy grids.
Three energy cooperatives issued a peak energy alter, starting at 7 a.m. on Jan. 17.
Customers enrolled in the dual fuel energy management program will be affected, with the alert expiring at 11 a.m.
If you’re looking for ways to cut down on your power use, you can do simple things like waiting to run a dishwasher or laundry machine, or using a microwave over an oven.
