New dialing procedure begins in SE Minnesota

(ABC 6 News) – If you live in southeast Minnesota, you are now being asked to dial 507 whenever you place a local call.
The move is part of a transition to add the new 924 area code to the region.
The next change comes on July 30, when calls will no longer be completed if you dial without including your local area code.
On August 30, new telephone lines or services may be assigned numbers with the 924 area code.
