(ABC 6 News) – A new challengers approaches in a bid for Councilmember Molly Dennis’ ward six seat for Rochester City Council.

Mark Schleusner, a Rochester native, announced his candidacy earlier this afternoon.

In a press release, Schleusner cited his previous experience on Rochester Public School Board, military service and fiscal responsibility as justifications for candidacy.

“Once elected, I will bring a voice of experience, reason, and vision to the city council seat,” wrote Schleusner. “Ward 6 deserves that representation.”

If elected, Schleusner would replace Councilmember Dennis, who has come under scrutiny from fellow councilmembers and Mayo Kim Norton.

In response, Dennis issued a state saying, in part, “residents need a dependable vote.” She added she is devoted to serving residents of ward six.
