(ABC 6 News) – The Austin High School dance team has made it’s way to the state championship once again; but their jazz team is joining them, for the first time in about 3 years.

Energy was high during the pep fest Thursday morning, with students, faculty and family feeling the celebratory spirit with the Austin High School ‘Fight Song.’

At the start of the celebration, students heard from athletic director Katie Carter, who highlighted the amazing student achievements from the year so far.

Dance coach Kayla Sellers, spoke about the dance team’s hard work, and introduced the team captains who spoke about their gratitude towards the Austin community.

According to the Packers, the support they receive from their town, is what pushes them to work hard.

“It’s amazing, honestly they’re amazing. When you go out and perform they’re just buzzing, the room lights up and it’s electric, we just can’t get enough of it,” said Captain Gabby Hernandez. “I’m so excited to hear them in the Target Center, it’s like a whole different level at state.”
