(ABC 6 News) – The Minnesota DFL is challenging the political party Legal Marijuana Now’s status as a major party.

Democrats filed the challenge with the Minnesota Supreme Court, saying Legal Marijuana Now does not meet the requirements of a major political party.

The DLF says the Legal Marijuana Now party never held a convention in 2022 for every congressional district, at least 45 county or legislative districts, have an executive committee for each congressional district and at least 45 county or legislative districts and gain enough support from voters in prior elections.

In a statement, the Legal Marijuana Now party said the following in a statement.

We did our due diligence and worked closely with the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office to comply with the rule changes recently passed to use specifically to target our party, our success and silence the voices of the thousands of Americans who have voted for us.
