(ABC 6 News) – Sen. Amy Klobuchar is raising awareness about voice-cloning scams that can trick people out of their money.

Scammers can use artificial intelligence to imitate loved ones by copying their voice before sending messages, often pretending they’re in danger or need help.

Experts suggest you set up a code word or phrase with your family to use in emergencies so you can confirm their identity.

Klobuchar now calls on the FTC and FCC to do more about these scams
