(ABC 6 News) – In Iowa, questions are being raised around school safety and resources; after the shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, Iowa announced it would spend $75 million to improve school security.
Governor Kim Reynolds said the state would award up to $50,000 to 1,500 schools to fix vulnerability.
But those funds have gone unspent.
in 2022, Perry officials expressed interest in the grant, but the application was not finished before the school shooting that left two people dead took place.
