(ABC 6 News) – A new Iowa bill makes its way through the state’s house, striving to help small grocery stores.

The bill would create a $2 million fund for projects to help sustain small grocers and even support opening new businesses.

The money would be distributed through grants or loans that businesses can apply for.

The bill would not only help struggling small businesses, but would also make sure rural areas in Iowa have access to healthy food.

A subcommittee will hear the bill tomorrow; from there, it will either move on to another committee or brought to the house floor for a full vote.
