(ABC 6 News) – In Dodge County, a local caregiver is being honored as the Caregiver of the Year Award by LeadingAge Minnesota.

Lora Walker is a CNA at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.

She was one of seven people selected for the award out of a field of 60,000 professional caregivers throughout the state.

Each winner received a thousand dollars.

“I love my job, I always have I’m needed, I know I’m needed here,” said Walker. “Yeah, it’s a good feeling to be needed and to help people.”

Walker says she will retire in September after 36 years with Fairview Care Center.
