(ABC 6 News) – An Iowa bill could require enhanced training and tracking for pharmacists who dispense hormonal contraceptives.
Iowa pharmacists would need to retain records of patients taking self-administered birth control, advise patients on the risks of sexually transmitted infections and the need for back-up contraception.
The bill would also mandate additional health screenings before and after the prescription is dispensed.
