(ABC 6 News) – The nonprofit Ability Building Center (ABC) has been serving people with disabilities for the past five years by helping them find jobs and getting them more involved with the community.

“Individuals with disabilities just want to be in the community. They want to be included just like anyone else. So, employment and rec and leisure activities within the community for them make our community better as a whole,” said Public Relations Manager of ABC Crystal Heim.

Saturday, they hosted a their ‘Celebrating Abilities’ event at Little Thistle Brewing Company in Rochester. In years past they have raised around $30 thousand.

Little Thistle is happy to continue their partnership with ABC. “We’re a pretty community centric business in itself. ABC being our neighbors, we partner with them for the storage of our crowlers and labeling them. It’s really just our pleasure to open the space and let them do what they need to do to let them get some funds in,” said Taproom Manger Audrey Robinson.

But it takes a whole community to make this all possible. Heim says, “so, this is out third year partnering with Little Thistle and it’s not just Little Thistle. It’s all of our neighbors in the community help out.”

Saturday’s event had a great turnout. People got to enjoy live music, a dunk tank, food trucks, activities for all ages and of course beer. “It just means Rochester knows how to show up. One we know how to support others in our community and we know good beer so, we have both,” said Robinson.
