Winter returns with quick shot of snow and cold, followed by another warm surge

Don’t get used to the early May-like warmth on Monday as it is still winter as a potent cold front will slide through the area Tuesday leading to a sharp decline in temperatures and snow.

High temperatures on Tuesday will likely occur during the late morning hours with most areas in the 40s to low 50s, before a cold front arrives sending temperatures plummeting throughout the day.

Temperatures will fall into the single digits by Wednesday morning with wind chills likely below-zero.

A rain, snow shower is possible during the afternoon before changing to all snow with snow likely in the 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM timeframe. Do to the quick movement of this front, most areas will see around 0.5″ or less which could make for some slippery conditions especially once the coldest air arrives with any wet roads, untreated surfaces, etc. likely to become icy by Wednesday morning.

High temperatures will be below average in the 20s.

The winter cold quickly moves out as temperatures rebound into the 40s and 50s on Thursday and Friday and 60s over the weekend.
