Winter returns midweek for a brief stay

The record-setting day on Monday was nice, but major changes are on the way for Tuesday and Wednesday as winter makes its return, although it’ll be brief.

A sharp cold front will slide through Tuesday morning into the afternoon bringing some very cold air along with it. High temperatures for the day will likely occur during the late morning or early afternoon hours with most areas in the 40s before falling into the 30s by late afternoon.

Snow will also develop sometime after 6:00 PM and move from west-to-east and should be out of the area by midnight. It’s a quick hitting system with most areas receiving around 0.5″ or less. As temperatures continue to drop, any wet roads or untreated surfaces may become icy.

Temperatures will fall into the single digits by Wednesday morning with wind chills likely reaching double digits below zero. Highs on Wednesday will be around 20°.

The cold air kicks out as early as Thursday as high temperatures return to the upper 40s with 50s on Friday and 60s over the weekend.
