Winter 2023-2024 one of warmest on record so far

It’s been no secret there has not been much of a winter this season and the data backs it up as it’s one of the warmest on record in Rochester.

Since December 1, which was the start of the meteorological season, through February 20, the average temperature recorded at the Rochester International Airport’s (RST) official observation site was 27.8° which ranks as the warmest winter on record by 1.5° over the winter of 1930-1931 which had an average temperature of 26.3°.

The Climate Prediction Center has a high probability of above average temperatures continuing through February which is the end of the meteorological winter season. Therefore, this winter season will likely go down as the warmest on record.
