Warmer days are ahead as temperatures look to return above average
The Arctic air gripping the area and much of the country will be around through the week, but will start to ease heading toward the second half of the week and especially by next week.
High temperatures this week and into the weekend will generally be in the single digits with night lows in the single digits to teens below-zero.
The Arctic air will start to retreat by Sunday and especially next week as the jet stream amplifies which will allow more mild Pacific air to filter in sending temperatures above average.
High temperatures on Sunday will climb into the upper teens to lower 20s while 30s are expected next week.
The average high temperature during this period is in the low 20s.
