Warm surge to lead to record-breaking temperature potential this weekend

The cold air and return to wintry weather will be brief as a surge of warm Pacific air will allow temperatures to climb to near record levels this weekend.

Temperatures will quickly rebound to near 50° on Thursday thanks to sunshine and a blustery southerly wind. Highs will climb further into the 50s on Friday with sunshine to end the week.

A surge of warmth arrives for the weekend with highs in the low-to-mid- 60s on Saturday which will be near or possibly record-breaking for many communities in the ABC 6 Weather First area.

Sunday will be even warmer as high temperatures spike into the upper 60s to lower 70s which is more typical of late May. The highs will likely break daily records for many across the area.
