Storm to bring rain, snow to the area Friday

Quiet weather is expected through Thursday with a storm system set to impact the area on Friday as the week comes to a close.

A storm will organize in the southern plains and track northeast toward the region late Thursday night into Friday. As it does, rain will likely develop early Friday morning.

The ABC 6 Weather First area will be on the northern edge of the storm. High pressure from Canada will bring down some colder air with rain mixing with snow or even some sleet at times on Friday. Little to no snow accumulation is expected.

Any precipitation will end by late Friday afternoon as the high pressure settles in overhead clearing out the clouds and leading to a sunny and cool weekend.

High temperatures on Friday will be chill with many areas near 40° or in the low 40s.

Precipitation amounts will generally be under 0.25″ for most with higher amounts up to 0.50″ or higher in far northeast Iowa.
