Small chance for precipitation this week

A couple of waves of moisture moving through the area will lead to precipitation chances on Wednesday and Thursday although amounts are expected to be minor.

Gulf of Mexico moisture will continue to lift northward as a wave of energy arrives on Wednesday leading to the chance of freezing rain and rain although the bulk of precipitation will remain south of the area. Temperatures are expected to be near freezing and will determine the precipitation type.

Another wave arrives on Thursday which will lead to a higher chance of freezing rain and rain. Again, the precipitation type will be determined by the temperatures at the time which will be near freezing. Amounts are expected to be light with little to no impacts expected.

The likelihood of snow accumulation remains southeast into eastern Iowa, northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

Moisture gets pushed east by Friday as drier air nudges in. The dry weather will carry over through the weekend into next week.
