Record temperatures likely this week as mild winter continues

The mild winter weather will continue to make its presence felt as temperatures will be near or likely break records through Thursday.

The highs on Tuesday are expected to be in the low 50s which would shatter the record of 43° in Rochester. Other cities such as Austin, Albert Lea and Mason City have a high likelihood of also breaking records.

The warmth carries over into Wednesday and Thursday with highs again reaching the low-to-mid 50s, which would set records for many. A breezy southerly wind will help drive in the mild air.

Record low temperatures are also likely through this period as overnight lows drop into the 30s and even low 40s by Thursday morning. The normal low temperature for early February is in the upper single digits!

Temperatures begin to cool off on Friday as a cold front sweeps through with highs near 40°. It’ll be even cooler yet this weekend and heading into next week with highs in the 30s which is still above average.
