In the ice box through this week

The statistically coldest stretch of days around here is the 15th through the 27th of January, so it’s very timely that we have a week full of arctic air. Highs will start to creep above zero through the week, but remain in the single digits through Saturday, then get a boost into the upper teens Sunday. For now, wind chills will remain dangerously low through Tuesday night.

While it’s going to be very cold this week, we at least do have a lot of sunshine here on our Monday, and will see a fair amount of blue sky off and on this week. Clouds will increase a bit overnight into Tuesday morning, but we should see more sunshine again Tuesday. Wind chills will remain in the -20° to -30° range through Tuesday.

Other than the cold, it’s a quiet week of weather. Highs look to reach back above normal next week with temperatures in the lower 30s starting Monday. There are no snow-making storm systems on the horizon at this time.
