February so far one of warmest on record

It’s been no secret that it hasn’t felt like February or winter all month long as mild air has dominated the weather pattern.

Through Monday, February 19, the monthly average temperature recorded at the Rochester International Airport (RST) is 32.0° which makes this month tied for first with 1931 as the warmest on record.

The remaining ten days of the month are looking mild with the Climate Prediction Center having a high probability of above average temperatures for much of the country east of the Rockies to the east coast heading into early March.

Given that above average temperatures are expected the rest of the month, this February will likely go down as the warmest on record in Rochester. Temperature data dates back to the late 1800’s.
