Above average temperatures return

The Arctic spell that gripped the area over the last week and more is now over as mild weather has returned with above average temperatures expected heading into February.

The upper-level weather pattern heading through the rest of the month will generally be zonal (west-to-east) which will allow mild, Pacific air to flow into the middle part of the country.

The Climate Prediction Center has a high probability of above average temperatures during the 8 to 14 day period from January 29 through February 4.

High temperatures during this period will generally be in the 30s with some 40s possible heading into February.
