(ABC 6 News) – According to the National Institute of Mental Health, Suicide is now the 10th leading overall cause of death in the United States. It is the second leading cause of death in kids and young adults between the ages of 10 and 34 years old.

Darcy Nielsen, a coordinator of the Out of the Darkness Walk in Albert Lea, talks about the importance of the event, being there for one another, and taking steps to safeguard our mental health and prevent suicide.

The Out of the Darkness Walk in Albert Lea is Saturday, September 18. Registration is at 9 a.m. and the walk goes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
