(ABC 6 News) – Pacelli Catholic Schools hosted a Veterans Day program Thursday.

Students in grades K through 12 shared photos of the veterans in their families and had a flag folding demonstration.

But most importantly – they got to hear personal stories from veterans.

"They get to tell their stories today, that’s what Veterans Day is all about. You can read out of a textbook all you want, but to talk to somebody who was actually there, so that’s what today was all about is making it real, That’s another thing that we’re doing for the students is to make it real for them, history lives on in the people who live on," Nick Mcgrath, Pacelli Social Studies teacher.

John Brunner, a Marine Corps Veteran from the Vietnam war was a guest speaker at the event.

He’s the grandfather of some of the kids in the audience.
