(ABC 6 News) – There is a new name to the rapid transit for people in downtown Rochester and it’s called the Link.

Link, a rebranding of Rochester’s bussing system aims to provide faster and safer bus travel around the city while also making commuting easier.

That goal includes adding bus fair kiosks and having three doors on all buses.

"Link Rapid transit is a 2.6-mile bus rapid transit, BRT for short, and it extends mostly on second street, starting at what is currently Mayo’s west lot," Jarrett Hubbard, Project manager, City of Rochester & Link Rapid Transit said.

"80 feet in length, 10 feet in width with multiple features that are unique to bus rapid transport services," said Nick Lemmer, Communications coordinator, City of Rochester.

The new bus rapid transport will begin in 2025.
