Two people hurt following ATV crash in Stewartville, alcohol involved

(ABC 6 News) – Two people were hurt in an ATV crash in Stewartville over the weekend.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to an ATV crash near 1st St and 4th Ave SE in Stewartville Friday just after 3 p.m.

Deputies located a man with his left arm pinned underneath the ATV. They also noticed open alcohol containers in and around the ATV.

Deputies said they believe the two had been drinking prior to the crash. It appears the driver ran a stop sign in an attempt to avoid an oncoming vehicle.

The driver was taken to the hospital with substantial injuries to his left arm. According to the sheriff’s office the driver, 36-year-old Jeremy Morrison remains in the hospital and has undergone surgery on his arm. The passenger had minor injuries.

Morrison is facing possible charges of criminal vehicular operation as well as DUI. Additional charges are possible pending results of a blood test.
