Two arrested on drug charges, warrants after police chase in Mason City

(ABC 6 News) — According to the sheriff’s office, deputies found fentanyl and a large quantity of meth in the vehicle.

Around 2:00 a.m. on Friday, February 4, a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Deputy tried to pull over a vehicle near the intersection of 4 St. SW and South Taft Avenue in Mason City.

According to a press release, the driver of the vehicle drove off and led police on a chase.

The deputy eventually got the vehicle stopped and identified the driver as 28-year-old Ethan Longie of North Dakota. Longie had a federal arrest warrant for a probation violation. His passenger, 27-year-old Shawn Young also had a warrant for a drug charge in Minnesota.

Both men were arrested and sent to the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

When deputies searched the vehicle, they said they found suspected fentanyl and a large quantity of methamphetamine.

Both Longie and Young are facing a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. Longie is also facing other drug possession charges, eluding law enforcement, and expired registration. Young is also facing a possession of marijuana charge.
