(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester book store has officially moved into its new location – an old warehouse – which has been re-purposed for Silver Lake books.

The bricks-and-mortar bookstore now located at 903 6th Street in northwest Rochester sells new, used, exclusive books, personalized books from Story Antics®, Bow Wow Detectives® and Lisa Loucks-Christenson’s ebooks, wildlife art, art cards..

Before taking over the building, it was a spa and hot tub warehouse.

Silver Lake books have been in business for around 3 years and staff says they have just outgrown their previous location.

"Communities that thrive usually have in the nucleus part of their town, they have a used or new book store and Rochester has really been kind of not fit that mold until recently with us," said David Christenson, Silver Lake books.

Right now, the book store runs on about 70 percent used books and 30 percent new.

"We try to cater to just a little bit of everything for everybody, we may not have a lot of titles of a particular type of hobby or something, but hopefully we have a few," Christenson said.

The upper level will be completed on November 26.

They are hoping to someday use the space to host community events and book signings.
