Sheriff’s office investigating theft and police chase in rural Stewartville

(ABC 6 News) — Authorities said a man reported that his generator had been stolen from his hunting cabin. When he went with deputies to the cabin, a person and a truck were on the property.

The man called the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office around 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 31 to report the theft, which happened on the 6900 block of County Road 139 SE.

The missing generator was described as a Black Max 7,000 watt Honda powered engine worth about $2,000. When the man went with deputies to the cabin, there was a blue Dodge Ram pickup on the property without any license plates.

According to Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain James Schueller, the person in the truck sped off, leading the deputy on a chase. Capt. Scheuller said the truck was going more than 80mph, and the deputy eventuallly called off the chase for safety reasons.

Deputies are still investigating and are reviewing trail cam footage from the area. Anyone with information should contact the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.
