School bus hits power pole in NW Rochester

(ABC 6 News) – A school bus crashed into a light pole in Northwest Rochester Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of 19th St. NW and Evergreen Dr. NW.

Valley High Drive to 19th Ave. NW is now closed to traffic.

There were no children on board.

A man who was behind the bus said he saw the bus swerve, go up on the curb, and hit a light pole.

The bus driver told Rochester Fire Department responders that he had a medical issue, lost consciousness, and swiped the pole.

He is ok, but will be evaluated at Saint Marys Campus.

There were no children on board.

Rochester Police, Rochester Fire, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance responded.

One business nearby, Mens Salon LLC, stylists said the lights flickered when the bus hit the pole.

RPU is currently on-scene working on the pole.
