RPS updates Safe and Open Schools Plan and COVID-19 Dashboard

(ABC 6 NEWS) – Rochester Public Schools recently updated its Safe and Open Schools Plan and its COVID-19 Dashboard.

The new updates to the Safe and Open Schools Plan include new thresholds for placing classrooms, grade levels, and schools into quarantine and distance learning.

There is an expansion to free COVID testing through the district.

Due to a lack of resources, the district will no longer conduct contact tracing on First Student bus routes.

The school district has also determined that 88% of RPS staff is vaccinated for COVID-19 and because of that number the district is not planning to implement a vaccine mandate for RPS staff at this time.

There are also updates to ventilation, additional staff support, and an alternative quarantine plan.
