RPD sees uptick in theft from vehicles

(ABC 6 NEWS) – The Rochester Police Department is seeing an uptick in theft from vehicles this year.

The police department shared that this October there have been 65 vehicle thefts so far.

That is compared to 29 in October 2020.

In September of this year, there were 42 and in August there were 40.

Police said most of the thefts were to cars that were left unlocked with valuable items inside.

Police want you to make sure you lock your doors and take any valuables out of your car.

RPD mentioned these thefts are happening throughout Rochester and some even in underground garages like in apartment complexes.
