RPD Captain graduates from program designed for law enforcement leaders
ROCHESTER, Minn. (ABC 6 News) – Rochester Police Chief Jim Franklin announced Friday that a Captain with the RPD has graduated from a program designed for law enforcement leadership.
Captain Aaron Penning attended the Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP) in Orlando for the three-week program.
Capt. Penning along with 100 other law enforcement members across the U.S. took part in the program. Topics in the course curriculum included diversity, organizational strategy, organizational change, leadership, leadership communications, officer wellness, and new policing strategies and innovations.
“The combination of formal instruction with professors from Harvard and other elite institutions with informal learning among a diverse group of law enforcement leaders from across the country provided me additional foundations and strategies to utilize at Rochester Police Department,” said Captain Penning.
