(ABC 6 News) – After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, Rochester Pride is back this weekend.

Rochester Pride will have local and statewide LGBTQ non-profits to connect people with resources like healthcare and mental health services. Organizers say they hope people enjoy the sense of community after being apart for two years and know that they have a safe space to truly be themselves.

"I think there’s also just a lot of pent up energy for people wanting to get out and do something in the community. From a Rochester standpoint, this is probably the first time that the LGBTQ community is going to have the chance to gather en masse," said Julie Winters, a board member for Rochester Pride.

Rochester Pride had its first event in 2019, then had to cancel in 2020 and 2021. The event will be Saturday from 12pm to 5pm in Soldier’s Field Park. There will also be five local bands and local food trucks and breweries.
