(ABC 6 News) – The Red Cross is seeking blood donors as they face historically low supplies.

Holiday schedules and the pandemic is contributing to the blood supply shortage dropping to its lowest level in ten years.

People are eligible to donate blood whether they have been vaccinated or not.

You can also donate blood even after testing positive for COVID. They just ask you to wait a couple of weeks past symptoms.

"The reality is there will always be a need for blood and its people that donate it that make it possible there is no lab substitute for human blood," American Red Cross SEMN Executive Director Melanie Tschida said.
