(ABC 6 News) — With everything under the sun wrapped up for the RCTC Yellowjackets, they essentially had nothing to play for on Monday.

They had already clinched the MCAC South Division and will be the top seed in the region tournament.

But the Yellowjackets wanted to put an exclamation point on what has been a dominant run to end the regular season.

In the first game of their doubleheader against Minnesota Post Grad, the Yellowjackets scored 6 runs in the first inning.

The team’s pitching carried the way for the rest of the game with Century alum T Palmer Mickelson striking out five and not allowing any runs over three innings.

RCTC went on to win the first game 7-3.

In the second game, it was more of the same as the Yellowjackets scored in every inning except the fifth en route to an 11-4 victory.

Izaak Stevens led the team with 3 hits and 3 RBIs.

The Yellowjackets have a first-round bye in the region tournament and will play the winner of Northland and Mesabi Range on Thursday at 4 pm in St. Cloud.
