(ABC 6 News) – Community members in Rochester came together today to remember the lives lost on that day 20 years ago.

Members of law enforcement and first responders spoke at the event talking to veterans and their families.

The event included the National Anthem, Pledge of allegiance, prayer, and reading of service members who died in Kabul, Afghanistan.

One of the organizers of the event says now more than ever we need unity.

"I’m sure a lot of people on September 10th thought it was another day, and that Tuesday morning was another day till all hell broke out and the world changed. We need to come back together, we need to come back together. This is to unite us all again, we’re all American," said Terry Throndson, Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial president.
