Police: Two boys home alone when home invasion took place

(ABC 6 News) – It was a scary encounter for two teens who were left alone for a brief time last night.

The Rochester Post Bulletin reports that the 12 and 14-year-olds were victims of a home invasion.

Police say the suspects knocked on the door of the apartment in the 1800 block of 41st street Northwest but the boys did not open the door and asked who was there. The suspects said they were friends of their father.

While one of the boys was calling their father to confirm, three men forced the door open and entered the apartment according to Rochester Police Captain, Casey Moilanen. The report says two of the men had handguns and a third a crowbar and demanded to know where the money was in the residence, Moilanen said.

The men searched the apartment but didn’t locate anything before leaving. They were gone before police arrived around 10:30 p.m. The children were not hurt and the incident remains under investigation.
