Past 4 executive directors of MN GOP urge Carnahan to resign

(KSTP)- The last four executive directors of the Minnesota GOP are calling on the chair of the state’s Republican Party to resign.

Kevin Poindexter, Becky Alery, Christine Snell and Andy Aplikowski released a joint letter on Wednesday calling for Jennifer Carnahan to resign from her role as chairperson of the Minnesota Republican Party and urging the GOP State Executive Committee to "listen to us, hear our stories and make the right decision to end this cycle of pain and chaos" if she doesn’t resign.

The four said the party "is morally bankrupt" due to Carnahan’s leadership and said she "created an extremely toxic work environment, often yelling, demeaning and questioning loyalty."

The stance from the past four executive directors comes amid a growing call from state Republican officials for Carnahan to resign after a prominent fundraiser and donor within the state Republican Party who has close ties to Carnahan was charged last week with child sex trafficking.

"And, most disturbing of all, we now know by the multitude of young women coming forward that Carnahan used her power to cover up allegations of sexual harassment and abuse," the letter from Poindexter, Alery, Snell and Aplikowski continues.

The group said they’ll release more about their experiences working for the Minnesota Republican Party under Carnahan, if necessary.
