Olmsted County seeking development proposals for former Seneca property

(ABC 6 News) – Olmsted County signed an agreement with Rochester Area Economic Development, Inc (RAEDI) to get proposals for the former Seneca property.

RAEDI will partner with the county to develop and execute a Statement of Interest (SOI) process to solicit development proposals and evaluate the highest and best use, with RAEDI providing expertise and capacity to the county.

Statements of Interest can be submitted between March 15 and June 1.

“This agreement combines our organizational strengths to advance a significant development opportunity. We look forward to working with Olmsted County to make that happen,” said RAEDI President John Wade.

The process will be open-ended and transparent at the discretion of the county and all decisions regarding any development to take place on the site will be at the county’s discretion.

“We want to ensure the development proposals for this property serve the needs of our community,” said Olmsted County Deputy Administrator Pete Giesen. “RAEDI has the expertise to perform the necessary tasks needed by the county to serve as a redevelopment consultant.”

The SOI timeline is:

  • March 15, 2022 – SOI open
  • March 23, 2022 – Optional pre-proposal meeting
  • April 19, 2022 – Optional pre-proposal meeting
  • April 29, 2022 – Deadline for SOI questions
  • June 1, 2022 – Deadline for SOI submissions
