MnDOT Prepares for snow Tuesday

(ABC 6 News) – MnDOT is preparing for snow on Tuesday.

Cindy Morgan with MnDOT District 6 says snow plows have been on the roads since Monday morning pre-treating them.

She says 101 snowplows will be on the roads when snowfalls. She says what’s unique about this system is how ice is supposed to form on top of snow after we get some freezing rain.

She says in this case, this will help clean up as the snow will soak up some of the ice.

"We know how to deal with snow, we’ve had a few under our belts. So I can’t emphasize enough that being patient is a big key and doing your part like turning off cruise control and making sure you give those snowplows room so they can work. Those are the big keys so you can make it from point A to B," Morgan said.

Morgan says as temperatures drop, ice can be a challenge as crews have to determine what salt to use. But regardless, crews are ready to make sure the roads are clear for your commute.
