(ABC 6 News) – Minnesota media personality Cory Hepola has announced his bid as a third-party candidate for governor.

Hepola recently left his show on WCCO Radio, and was previously an anchor and reporter at KARE 11 in the Twin Cities.

Wednesday, he held a press conference at the State Capitol and talked about how he would like to modernize the education system in Minnesota, and provide better access to mental health services.

"There’s no collaboration, there’s no compromise. We deserve better, Minnesota, and that is what we are going to give. We offer choice, we offer unity, we offer hope," Hepola said.

Governor Tim Walz is running for re-election and is the only Democrat running so far.

Right now, there are nine Republican candidates who have announced their bid for the seat.
