(ABC 6 News) – Saturday is the start of the trout harvest opener in southeastern Minnesota.

To make things more exciting for interested anglers, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is planning on releasing 600 trout into rivers and streams.

The process began Friday with the DNR releasing 300 trout into Wolf Creek in Austin.

If you are interested in fishing, you can grab a trout angling opportunities booklet at Whitewater State Park, Forestville State Park, and Beaver Creek Valley State Park.

The Minnesota DNR also offers a stream finder tool on its website.
