Mayor for a Day Essay Contest now open for submissions

(ABC 6 News) – Students across Minnesota in 4th, 5th and 6th grade can now submit essays for the ninth annual Mayor for a Day essay contest.

Winning essays will be featured in Minnesota Cities magazine and the writer could win $100.

The topic for the essay is "What would you do if you were mayor for a day?"

The deadline for submissions is December 6. Students and parents/caregivers can submit essays via an online form, a PDF email attachment, or the mail. All contest materials are available at www.lmc.org/mayorforaday.

Each year the contest receives hundreds of submissions from across the state.

2020 winners were from Lake Crystal, New Brighton and North Mankato. Three honorable mentions were from Carver, Chanhassen and New Prague.
