(ABC 6 News) – In Minneapolis, several teams in our area were competing for the chance to get to the state title game in soccer, while others were in the region competing in the section tournament for volleyball.

LOURDES HIGH SCHOOL’S SARAH GROVEN NAMED MN STATE GIRLS SOCCER CLASS A COACH OF THE YEAR

Rochester Lourdes Girls Soccer head coach Sarah Groven was named Class A Soccer Coach of the Year by the Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association. Groven is in her 25th season as a coach and she notched her 350th win with the Lourdes Eagles.

“I’ve been blessed with some incredible talent over the years and these wins are hardly mine alone. I remember the wins and losses…but all of that is forgotten when I’m approached at the grocery store and a former player introduces me to her daughter. To see these girls grow into amazing young women is what it’s all about,” said Groven in a statement.

Groven says that when it comes to her coaching career, she may have more years behind her than in front of her, but she loves the program and this school, and she is not ready to give either of them up quite yet.
