Local flower shop hosts charitable holiday open house

(ABC 6 NEWS) – Flower shops around Rochester each hosted a holiday open house this weekend, and local shop Renning’s Flowers donated proceeds to Channel One Food Bank. The store is decked out with holiday arrangements, Christmas trees, and decorations all at discounted prices. And in the spirit of giving, $1 from each transaction is donated to Channel One.

The holiday open house is a years-old tradition, but this year the store owner said it’s a nice incentive for people to come purchase flowers in person rather than online or over the phone.

"All the florists in town try and do it at the same time so that people can go from shop to shop. So to get to see all the people come in that’s the best part," co-owner Phil Schroeder said.

The open house started on Nov. 12, and ended Nov. 14. Schroeder said he will post their total donation amount from the weekend on Facebook this week.
