Investigation underway into cause of garage fire in Albert Lea

(ABC 6 News) – Officials in Albert Lea are invesigating a garage fire that may have been intentionally set Monday evening.

Fire crews were called to 714 Jefferson Ave just before 10 p.m. for a fully involved garage fire.

The property owner indicated there was no one in the garage and it was locked and secured at the time of the fire.

No other property was affected by the fire. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted with the investigation.

Officials said, "The cause of the fire is determined to be incendiary. The fire appeared to have started inside with a heat source introduced from the outside through holes where the siding had rotted away. "

The Albert Lea Fire Deparment said the fire caused an estimated $20,000 worth of damage
