(ABC 6 News) – While you are able to do recreational fires in Rochester year round there are some things you need to keep in mind.

Inside the city limits of Rochester recreational fires need to be 25 feet away from all houses and the flames can’t get higher than three feet.

The only things allowed to be burned are clean, dry firewood or charcoal. The fire can’t be used to dispose of household waste or other items like grass clippings.

"A side note is that if any of the neighbors do call we will have to respond and investigate and if we determine that other things are being burnt we may extinguish the fire its self or have the home owner extinguish the fire," said City of Rochester Fire Inspector Jason Fife.
